New job for Wilson Cruz
Wilson Cruz is host for the youthzone at gay.com
When hes not in front of the camera, Wilson has spent time advocating for and reaching out to GLBT youth and GLBT people of color. He spoke at the Millennium March on Washington and frequently addresses groups of college students around the country.
Wilson about his coming out: For me, it was a couple of teachers who changed my life. Ms. Putnam and Ms. Lobdell showed me how special I was. They told me to let my pain inspire me to great things. They told me I had the power to change the world and that one day I would. And one day those people who made my life miserable in school would see that there was more to me than meets the eye. They told me to concentrate on the things that I did well like band, drama club, choir and my school work, and that one day it would pay off.
Wilson is in the chatroom of gay.com every other Wednesday to help young gay people.
Wilson: I know how it feels to be desperate to have someone hear your pain, and I know that there are so many more of you out there who are feeling as alone, and lost, as he did. As I did. You are not alone.
