Interview with Jason Katims

Blogged in MSCL by admin Thursday March 28, 2002

He talks about the future of his show “Roswell”

Jason Katims, who was a writer on “My So-Called Life” is currently faced with the cancellation of his own tv-show “Roswell”.

In an interview with fans from the Roswell fansite “Crashdown.com”, he also talks about fans, the internet and “My So-Called Life”:

Crashdown: There seems to be a really close relationship with Roswell between the production staff and cast and their fans on the net. Do you see that as a sign of things to come, or is it something that is just special with this show?

Jason Katims: Im hoping that it is. Its interesting because I also worked on “My So called Life” and that was a show that also inspired this big passionate fan base, but at the time the internet was very new, and not as pervasive as it is now- and television audience was not as sophisticated as it is now, and this Crashdown audience is such a sophisticated audience. I used to joke that if I wanted to know what was going on with the show, Id log on to Crashdown and find out because they seemed to know more than I did about what was going on. And often they did. So I think that it is a sign of things to come in a certain way, and the communications and closeness between the people making the show and the audience is a way of closing that gap, and is a good thing.
